Raspberry Pi Pico — the full module, not a bare RP2040 chip.
Firmware
CircuitPython 9 + KMK library, pre-flashed and ready to use out of the box. The desktop software is separate — downloaded with your unique code from the Download page.

USB serial, over a second CDC port.
Keys
12 keys, 4×3 scanning matrix.
Encoders
2 rotary encoders — "Volume" and "Scroll" in the default layout — each with a click button and an aluminum knob.
LEDs
4× individual WS2812 NeoPixels, not a strip. Breathe, pulse and rainbow effects. The underglow look comes from the translucent PETG bottom panel — no separate diffuser.
PCB
Custom-designed board, not a protoboard.

Every key and encoder is configured from a desktop app — React 18 + Vite inside a Tauri 2 shell, Windows only. It talks to the macropad over USB serial, no cloud account required.
